Angola is to host a meeting later this month for representatives of companies from Portuguese-language countries, Macau and other parts of China, in order to identify business opportunities, the president of the Angolan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIA) announced on Tuesday.
According to Angolan news agency Angop, the 15th Meeting of Entrepreneurs for Economic and Trade Co-operation between the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and China, which was announced on Monday by CCIA president Vicente Soares at a news conference in Luanda, is to take place between 24 and 26 July, during the Luanda International Fair (Filda).
The event is expected to be attended by more than 300 people, including 230 from Angola and 90 from China and Macau.
Soares said that the aim of the meeting was to find business opportunities with Chinese investors and those from CPLP countries.
According to Soares, it is important for companies from other CPLP member states, in addition to Portugal and Brazil, to have access to funding.
This is the third time that Angola will be hosting the meeting, which since 2005 has been held on a rotating annual basis in the member states of the CPLP, with the aim of fostering negotiations and cooperation between businesspeople.
It is organised under the Cooperation Protocol between Trade Promotion Organisations, Chambers of Commerce of Mainland China, the various Portuguese-language countries and Macau, which was signed in 2003.
