Covid-19: Vitória Diogo demands stricter surveillance at borders, particularly Ressano Garcia

The Secretary of State in Maputo province, Vitória Diogo, is demanding strict control over the entry of citizens across national borders in response to the massive illegal entry of citizens into the country.
In the past two weeks, several cases have been reported of Mozambican individuals residing in South Africa entering the country illegally, particularly at the Ressano Garcia border post in Moamba district.
“The state has to know who entered to do the screening test. We have to know where the person is going and where they are going to stay, because this person has to be quarantined. This means there has to be vigilance. We need to know so that we can supervise, in that house, anyone who does not normally live there,” she said.
Diogo warns that the current situation may contribute to an exponential increase in Covid-19 cases.
