Mozambique: MISA demands investigation into disappearance of journalist

Mozambique reported on Sunday [December 27] two more Covid-19 deaths.. “These are male patients, 38 and 40 years old, both of Mozambican nationality and who died after the worsening of their health conditions during the hospitalisation period in hospital units in Maputo City”, reads the note from the Ministry of Health distributed yesterday to the media.
The Covid-19 death toll in Mozambique has therefore risen to 161.

Yesterday, the health authorities announced a further 103 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases registered in the country to 18,265, of which 17,952 are locally transmitted and 313 imported.
The country accounts for a total of 16,119 (88%)recoveries.
Of the total of 1,981 active cases in Mozambique, the city of Maputo has 1,433.
The country has cumulatively tested 266,841 suspected cases of infection since the first case was announced on 22 March.
The Covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,756,060 deaths resulting from more than 80.1 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report by the French news agency AFP.

In Africa, there are 62,366 confirmed deaths and more than 2.6 million infected in 55 countries, according to the most recent statistics on the continent’s pandemic.
The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
