In the last 24 hours, Mozambique recorded two more positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infected with the new coronavirus from 352 to 354, announced the director of Public Health today. Between Thursday (June 4) and Friday (June 6) 247 tests were performed in the country
“Both patients are Mozambican and have mild to moderate symptoms,” said Rosa Marlene, in the update of data on the pandemic at the Ministry of Health in Maputo.
The new cases were registered in the province of Inhambane and in the city of Maputo.
“People are in isolation at home and the process of mapping contacts is currently underway,” she added.
Of the 354 cases recorded in Mozambique, 327 are locally transmitted and 27 are imported, with 119. recoveries and two deaths. One person is in hospital.
Of the total cases reported so far, 150 are in Cabo Delgado province, 87 in Nampula, five in Niassa, five in Tete, two in Zambézia, 61 in Maputo city, 24 in Maputo province, 12 in Sofala, one in Manica , four in Inhambane and three in Gaza.
Since the announcement of the first case on March 22, 12,345 tests have been carried out and about 17,000 people out of the more than 800,000 screened have been quarantined, 1,827 of whom continue to be monitored by Mozambican health authorities.
In Africa, there are 4,756 confirmed deaths in nearly 170,000 infected in 54 countries, according to the latest statistics on the continent’s pandemic.
