Peace Corps to close country program in Mozambique

The provincial Director of Labour and Social Security in Zambézia announced on Wednesday the creation of a multi-sectoral team to look into the production of masks by tailors in Quelimane, and evaluate their effectiveness as protection against the new coronavirus.
This Tuesday, Radio Mozambique reported that fabric masks were being produced at some Quelimane tailoring outlets in response to Covid-19 prevention challenges.
The owner of one shop told our reporter that she was producing masks at the request of an institution.
Zambézia Director of Labour and Social Security Joao Motim said that the activity would be monitored.
Chief physician in the Provincial Directorate of Health in Zambézia, Óscar Awade, said that fabric masks had been used in the past, but did not elaborate on their effectiveness in protecting against Covid-19.
