The National Migration Service says that control measures are being taken at all of Mozambique’s main borders and air terminals in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19.
The measure aims to ensure that people from countries with cases of the disease comply with screening procedures, thereby preventing the possible spread of the disease.
Senami spokesman Celestino Matsinhe said that 17 people arrived from countries with COVID-19 during the past week, but did not represent any risk to public health, as they had undergone screening.
Senami figures indicate that more than 100,000 travellers crossed national borders during the past week.
Matsinhe also reiterated his department’s call for national and foreign citizens to submit their requests for identity and travel documents in person, without resorting to intermediaries.
