Mozambique’s migration authorities say that preventive measures following the outbreak of the new coronavirus are being strictly adhered at national border crossings.
According to National Migration Service (SEANAMI) spokesman Celestino Matsinhe, agents on the ground working in coordination with the health sector are only allowing those properly screened to enter the country.
“At the crossing points, health personnel make first contact with all travellers who intend to enter the national territory. They carry out the screening, and only after verifying that the passenger does not pose any danger to public health do they pass them on to Migration control. Migration only performs the processing of travellers after verification by the health teams at the crossing points,” Matsinhe told reporters at a press conference in Maputo.
