Mozambican citizens victims of human trafficking in Laos await repatriation
In the markets of Nampula, not everyone is protected.
The Ministry of Health will next week set up a Covid-19 screening laboratory in Nampula, in response to increases in the number of cases in the province.
With 87 cases, Nampula has the second-highest tally of Covid-19 cases in the country, just below Cabo Delgado, with 150. The country as a whole has 352 cases.
Announcing the start of testing, Minister of Health Armindo Tiago said that one of the factors in the rapid spread was “the population density associated with non-compliance with prevention [measures]”.
“The markets in Nampula are not a good example. Today, I saw several people walking in the street without masks on, and we also have issues relating to basic sanitation,” Tiago said.
Tiago also promised to reinforce active surveillance, and the isolation of patients in a centre which has already been opened.
