Mozambique: Chapo supports humanitarian aid for cyclone Chido victims in Mecúfi

Mozambique yesterday reported 69 more Covid-19 cases, with no new deaths, bringing to 13,892 the total number of infections with the death toll steady at 99, the Ministry of Health (MISAU) has announced. The cases reported on Tuesday come from a batch of 1,908 tests performed across the country.
According to MISAU, the majority of the newly reported cases were registered in the city of Maputo with 45, followed by the province of Cabo Delgado with nine. Of the newly diagnosed patients, 66 are Mozambicans, with one South African, one Nepali and one Lebanese citizen. All new infections resulted from local transmission.
Health officials on Tuesday also reported that 89 more people had recovered, bringing the total to 11,748 (84% of total infections).
Mozambique has so far performed 204,650 tests, 1,908 in the last 24 hours, and currently has 55 people hospitalised in Covid-19 centres and other hospital units, almost all in the capital, Maputo.
There are currently 2,041 active cases in Mozambique. Deaths remain steady at 99, including 74 in Maputo.
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 1,263,890 deaths in more than 50.9 million cases of infection worldwide, according to the French AFP news agency.
In Africa, there have been 45,609 confirmed deaths among the more than 1.8 million people infected in 55 countries, according to the latest statistics.
The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
