Mozambique: Niassa province reports 99 malaria deaths, 448,526 cases in first half of 2025

Mozambique has registered, in the last 24 hours, 62 more positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total to 1,219 infections by the new coronavirus , announced the National Director of Public Health on Monday (July 13).
The 62 newly diagnosed patients, five of whom are children under the age of 5, are in the provinces of Maputo (24), Maputo City (21), Cabo Delgado (12), Zambézia (01) and Gaza (04).
The country tested 913 samples in the last 24 hours. Of these, 651 were tested in public sector laboratories and 262 in private sector laboratories.
Of the 651 samples tested in public sector laboratories, 36 came from Niassa Province, 43 from Cabo Delgado, 22 from Zambézia, 10 from Tete, 93 from Sofala, five from Inhambane, 77 from Gaza, 185 from Maputo Province and 180 from Maputo City .
Of the 262 samples tested in private sector laboratories, 162 come from Cabo Delgado Province and 100 from Maputo City.
The new cases reported today include 60 individuals of Mozambican nationality and two foreign individuals (one is a Rwandan national and the other a South African).

All the newly diagnosed cases are “in isolation at home and the process of mapping their contacts is underway”, said Rosa Marlene.
Of the total cases registered in the country, 1,119 are locally transmitted and 100 are imported.
“We want to inform you that we registered five (05) more cases fully recovered from COVID-19; three (03) in Niassa Province, one (01) in Cabo Delgado Province, one (01) in Nampula Province. These are individuals of Mozambican nationality who lived in isolation during the period of the disease,”said Rosa Marlene, Director of Public Health.
Mozambique has a cumulative of 27 individuals hospitalised due to COVID-19. Of these, five remain in hospital care. They suffer from various chronic pathologies, associated with COVID-19.
Thus, Mozambique currently has 369 patients fully recovered, nine deaths due to COVID-19 and two deaths due to other causes.
The majority of registered active cases were detected in the provinces of Nampula (246) and Cabo Delgado (205), Maputo City (127) and Maputo province (118) follow.

A total of 40,861 people have been tested for Covid-19 since the first case was reported, on March 22.
Meanwhile, 22,329 persons, out of more than one million screened, were placed under home quarantine.
A total of 2,415 continue to be monitored by health authorities.
