Mozambique: At least three killed and 66 injured in Maputo on Thursday - Maputo Central Hospital

Mozambique on Sunday (August 23) reported a further 91 positive Covid-19 cases , bringing the cumulative total registered in the country to 3,395, still with just 20 deaths, the Ministry of Health has indicated.
Of the new infections, 87 are of Mozambican nationality and four are foreigners.
According to the daily Covid-19 bulletin on the Ministry of Health website, the newly diagnosed cases are distributed as follows: Maputo city (39); Inhambane (31), Maputo province (nine), Sofala (seven), Manica (two), Nampula (two) and Zambézia (one).
Of the 3,395 infections already registered in Mozambique, 3,148 are of local transmission and 247 cases are imported.
The Ministry of Health counts 1,503 individuals as fully recovered, with 20 deaths so far.
The city of Maputo has the highest number of active infections (893), followed by Maputo province (287) and Nampula (241), with the remaining regions registering fewer than 180 active cases.

Since the announcement of the first case on March 22, the country has tested a total of 86,549 suspected cases, with just over 1.8 million people screened.
The Covid-19 pandemic has already claimed at least 800,000 lives and infected more than 23 million people in 196 countries and territories worldwide, according to a report by the French press agency AFP.
