A young woman died of Covid-19 yesterday, at Tete Provincial Hospital, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday. She was 26 years old,The country now has 11 deaths due to Covid-19.

The 26 year-old victim entered the Tete Provincial Hospital in central Mozambique on Sunday afternoon in a serious condition and died “a few minutes after being admitted,” said Benigna Matsinhe, deputy director of Public Health, in an update on pandemic data at the Ministry of Health in Maputo.
The sample for the test for the new coronavirus was collected on the 7th and the positive result came out on the 10th, said the responsible.
Mozambique registered, from Sunday to Monday (July 20), 16 more cases of infection with the new coronavirus, increasing the cumulative to 1507 people diagnosed with the disease since it was first detected in the country.
In terms of the distribution of newly diagnosed cases, five are from Cabo Delgado province, one from Nampula, one from Sofala, two from Gaza, four from Maputo province and three from Maputo city.
Meanwhile, there was a record of 33 more patients who have recovered, bringing the total to 505.

Of the total number of cases registered in Mozambique, 1,354 are of local transmission and 153 are imported, with six hospitalised .
Two provinces in northern Mozambique have the highest number of infections, namely Nampula, with 222 cases, and Cabo Delgado, with 208.
Maputo province and city follow, with 190 and 174 cases respectively, while the remaining seven provinces of the country register less than 50 cases.
Since the announcement of the first Covid-19 case in Mozambique on 22 March, the country has carried out 47,787 tests of suspected cases, having screened over a million people.
23,200 people suspected of Covid-19 have been placed in home quarantine and 2,990 are still being followed up by health authorities.
