Mozambique: At least 5,000 higher education students to receive free laptops
The Mozambican Ministry of Health (MISAU) announced on Friday that it is testing the 32 passengers on the Ethiopian Airlines flight which arrived in Mozambique on Monday from countries with active transmission of Covid-19.
Among the passengers are 20 Mozambicans eight British, two Somali, one Spanish and one German, National Director of Public Health Rosa Marlene told the Covid-19 update press briefing of May 8. Of the 32 people, 17 came from England, three from Brazil, six from Spain, two from Somalia and the rest came from Canada, Portugal, Italy and the United States.
According to health authorities, 21 passengers stayed in Maputo, the Mozambican capital in the south of the country, while the remaining 11 moved to other provinces in the country. Two went to Matola, one to Manhiça, two to Chimoio (city), one to Beira, three to Pemba and two to Vilanculos,
Dr Rosa Marlene confirmed that none of the 32 passengers were subject to any health control upon arrival, A Verdade reports.
Mozambique, which is under state of emergency regulations since April 1st and until end of May, registered on Sunday (May 10) a total of 91 positive Covid-19 cases, 34 recoveries and no deaths.
