The Ministry of Transport and Communications has publicly committed to strictly following all World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations in the face of any possible outbreak of Covid-19, Radio Mozambique reports.
National Director of Transport and Security, Cláudio Zunguze, gave the assurance in Matola on Thursday at the end of a meeting of transporters operating in the province and city of Maputo.
“We wanted to convey our readiness to face up to Covid-19 and implement the correct preventive measures. The transport sector already has guideline procedures that must be observed by the different segments of transport,” Zunguze said.
“Everything is being done, whether in terms of air or sea transport, to adopt preventive measures. The Ministry of Transport and Communications is currently, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, implementing all World Health Organisation measures, and liaising with the International Civil Aviation Organisation to ensure that all operations take place safely.”
