Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) has just set up two tunnels with sprinklers for disinfecting against Covid-19, the institution announced on its Facebook page.
The sanitising tunnels system donated by the Private Hospital of Maputo to the Ministry of Health (MISAU), which allocated the equipment to HCM to reinforce Covid-19 counter-measures.
A technique adopted by Turkey and China and recently replicated in Mozambique by Chimoio municipality, the new equipment was installed at the entrances of the adult emergency service, on Ave. Eduardo Mondlhane, and the hospital’s main gate on Ave. Agostinho Neto.
HCM says the system will ensure that all those entering the hospital can be completely disinfected as a way of mitigating the risk of Covid-19 contamination.
The equipment, valued at 98,000.00 meticais, uses a product based on chlorine and water, and is considered quite effective for disinfecting against microorganisms.
The system joins several other Covid-19 counter-measures introduced by HCM, at a time when the country has a total of 41 positive cases, of which eight are deemed to have fully recovered.
