Mozambique Airlines (LAM) will reduce the number of flights due to Covid-19, the company announced on Wednesday in a press release.
“On routes where traffic reduction is marked, especially those routes connecting abroad, flight cancellations may occur in which cases the routing of passengers for our market partners will be made.” reads the LAM statement.
The company adds that it is open to making changes to ticket dates for customers who miss flights in connection with medical procedures related to Covid-19.
“LAM is in coordination with the national health authorities, which results in the implementation of the respective recommendations, having already introduced hand hygiene through indicated disinfectants, as well as the creation of a stock of screening masks on each flight. “, concludes the document.
LAM’s flights cover 11 destinations in the domestic market. On the African continent it has flights to Johannesburg, Dar-Es-Salaam and Nairobi.
There is no confirmed case of the disease in Mozambique, but fear has increased after confirmation since last week of new cases in South Africa, a country bordering Mozambique.
The Covid-19 epidemic was detected in December in China and has already claimed more than 4,300 deaths in 28 countries and territories.
The number of infected people exceeded 120,000 people, with cases registered in 120 countries and territories, including Portugal, which has 59 confirmed cases.
In view of the epidemic’s progress, several countries have adopted exceptional measures, including the quarantine regime initially enacted by China in the outbreak area.
