Vilankulo International Airport and Inhambane Aerodrome are two of Inhambane’s main entry points for foreigners, and both are undertaking Covid-19 screening.
More than 1,400 people have been screened since the operations began, mostly arriving from India, England and France.
Twelve of those screened were quarantined at home. Four of these showed no signs of the disease and were discharged; eight remain in quarantine.
The Provincial Director of Health in Inhambane, Naftal Mathusse, explains that those in quarantine do not have symptoms of the disease, but had arrived from countries with confirmed cases of the disease and very levels of infection.
Two hospitalisation centres with 20 beds have been created in Inhambane and Vilankulo in the event that cases of the disease are confirmed there.
Mathusse told ‘O Pais’ that human, material and financial resources are currently being mobilised to respond to any confirmed case of Covid-19 in Inhambane, where health authorities are recommending strict compliance with all preventive measures announced by the government.
