The Mozambican post office (Correios de Moçambique) recorded losses in excess of 40 million meticais [around US$556,289] in the first seven months of this year, allegedly as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Before the outbreak of the disease, the company had a monthly turnover of 19 million meticais, which figure has fallen to around 14 million.
The chairman of the Board of Directors of Correios de Moçambique, Valdemar Jessen, said that, given the situation, the institution would seek to reinvent itself to face the effects of the crisis.
Valdemar Jessen was speaking in Dondo district, Sofala province, this Tuesday, during a meeting that brought together staff from the institution across the country.
