During his address to the nation on Sunday, President of the Republic Filipe Nusi said that any reopening of places of worship was still premature, given the understanding that churches were one of the main sources of the spread of Covid-19.
National Director of Religious Affairs, Arão Litsure, responded that believers must find alternative ways to maintain their faith, and not turn away from God.
“We must trust the authorities, so we, religious leaders and citizens, need to find alternative ways to maintain our faith. We must find ways. Life does not stop, so we must do everything in our power to maintain out religious lives, for the good of us all,” he said.
This, Litsuri added, was the best way to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
