The Mozambican Association for the Promotion of Modern Cooperatives (AMPCM) was awarded Best SME with Manufactured Product, being placed second in FACIM 2017 overall.
The award recognises the work AMPCM has done to strengthen cooperatives’ quality, inclusivity and sustainability, and was presented in official FACIM closing ceremonies led by Prime Minister Carlos Agostino do Rosário.
Receiving the award, AMPCM President Helena Bandeira said that such recognition was the highlight of AMPCM’s presence at FACIM 2017.
“Thank you on behalf of all AMPCM-associated cooperatives, but especially our partners, the Swedish cooperative centre and AGIR Programme, funded by the embassies of Sweden, Holland and Switzerland. Our partners are not present to witness this moment, but were responsible for our presence at FACIM and for this achievement. It is a great responsibility for AMPCM and a great impulse to work even harder after this award,” Bandeira said.
The association is involved in the promotion of its 51 constituent cooperatives in various business sectors. This year, AMPCM presented products produced by dozens of cooperatives including rice, corn, beans, soybeans, peanuts, cashew nuts and fresh milk.
The AMPCM exhibits at the fair every year, showcasing its activities and trying to attract members, broaden the dissemination of its services, establish new partners, exchange experiences and promote marketing opportunities for its members’ products. Its aim is to make cooperatives increasingly sustainable, so contributing to Mozambique’s socio-economic development.
On the first day of FACIM, President Nyusi stopped by the AMPCM stand and encouraged the cooperatives to “try to fill the spaces in the agriculture value chain”.
