Mozambique: Businesses pledge to submit evidence of foreign exchange shortage to the central bank
Contaminated feed has killed ten horses at the Tsamadhi and El Paso stables in Chiango and Marracuene respectively.
At Tsamadhi stables in Chiango, Maputo, at least seven horses died, the owners told O País. The toxic feed – confirmed by international laboratory tests – affected about 20 horses, some of which may still be put down if their the condition worsens.
Angered by the situation, which played out over the period of about a year, the stable owners are threatening to take the feed supplier matter to court over delays in compensation.
The producers of the feed, the Companhia Industrial da Matola, has been providing support in the form of free feed for the surviving horses, but the stable owners say this is not enough.
