Gaza police suspend team on duty in Incoluane on the day of the accident
In email correspondence between O Pais newspaper and the Portuguese consortium Mota-Engil Soares da Costa which built the Olympic pool whose wall collapsed last Saturday killing national swimming coach Frederico dos Santos, the company states that the work was guaranteed for one year “as defined in the contract signed”.
Elsewhere, the consortium says that the building “fully complies with the project’s execution.”
Asked how closely the work was supervised, the Portuguese consortium says there was a daily monitoring: “The work was supervised and monitored daily from its inception to the final delivery date.”
The police meanwhile have announced the setting up of a team of experts. Maputo police spokesman Orlando Mudumane said investigators were working in coordination with multisectoral teams.
One person was killed and nine injured in the incident on Saturday. Some victims are still in hospital.
