The construction of the port of Chongoene in Gaza province, designed to speed the flow of product from the Chibuto heavy sands project, will start soon.
The Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias, said that the feasibility study had already been carried out, and the DUAT title for the use and exploitation of land had been attributed to the entity which owns the works.
“As we know, transportation by trucks is not optimal – it brings with it additional problems – and we are now looking at how to speed up and find an ideal solution. Besides the manifest intention that we have to go ahead with the dock as quickly as possible, there are some aspects which have to be clarified,” he said.
The minister made his announcement in Chibuto district last Thursday (13-10) during a visit to a mining company in that part of Gaza province.
