More than 75% of those infected with Covid-19 in Maputo City are in the Municipal District of Kampfumo, @Verdade reports. This includes the neighbourhoods Alto Maé A, Ato Maé B, Baixa, Bairro Central A, Bairro Central B, Bairro Central C, Malhangalene A, Mahangalene B, Polana Cimento A, Polana Cimento B and Sommerschield.
@Verdade has learned that 471 of the 611 positive cases reported diagnosed on Monday (10-08) were detected in those neighbourhoods.
New patients in Kampfumo have more than tripled since July 26th, when 138 positive cases were detected. Mozambique’s first-ever Covid-19 case was diagnosed in the district on March 22nd of this year.
The Maputo City municipal district with the next highest number of infections is Kamavota (neighbourhoods Mavalane A, Mavalane B, FPLM, Hulene A, Hulene B, Ferroviario, Laulane, 3 de Fevereiro, Mahotas, Abazine and Costa do Sol), with a cumulative total of 52 positive cases.
Kamavota is followed by KaMubukkwana (Bagamoyo, Geaorge Dimitrov, Inhagoia A, Inhagoia B, Jardim, Luis Cabral, Magoanine, Malhazine, Nsalane, 25 de Juho A, 25 de Junho B and Zimpeto neighbourhoods), where the total number of cases was revised to 37.
In KaMaxakenii (Mafaala, Maxaquene A, Maxaquene B, Maxaquene C, Polana Caniço A, Polana Caniço B and Urbanização neighbourhoods), the total was revised to 26 positive cases.
The figure for Nhlamankulo (Aeroporto A, Aeroporto B, Xipamanine, Unitdade 7, Chamanculo A, Chamanculo B, Chamanculo C, Chamanculo D, Malanga and Munhuana neighbourhoods) is now 25 infected, and Katembe (Gvachene, Chale, Inguice, Ncassene and Xamissava neighbourhoods) has two infected.
In Inhaca island and the KaNyaka municipal district have no recorded coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, 23 more cases were confirmed in Maputo city on Tuesday (11-08), bringing the cumulative total to 634 infected and 11 hospitalised, three more than the previous day.
