A collision between a Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) railcar and a heavy goods vehicle at a level crossing in the town of Boane yesterday evening conditioned the circulation of trains on the Goba line and of vehicles on National Road Number Two (EN2) in Maputo province.
The accident occurred when the brakes of the truck, registration ADF 379 MP, failed and it collided with a railcar travelling in the Boane-Goba direction.
As a result of the accident, the truck was partially destroyed, and movement of locomotives and vehicles, on the Goba line and the EN2 respectively, was constrained. A pole carrying an electricity power line was also hit.
