CNOOC bids for five offshore blocks, Eni for one – INP | Mozambique’s 6th licensing round

Eni Mozambico SpA and CNOOC Hong Kong Holding Limited on Friday submitted bids to explore areas made available in the Sixth Licensing Round for the Concession of Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production Areas, the National Petroleum Institute (INP) announced in a press release.
Italian oil company Eni submitted a bid for area A6-C, located in the Angoche basin.
China National Offshore Oil Corporation CNOOC, submitted bids for five areas: S6-A, S6-B, A6-G, A6-D and A6-E, located in the Save and Angoche basins.
The two companies propose to form a partnership with Mozambique’s Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, E.P. (ENH), distributing the participatory interest as follows:
A6-C – ENI operator (60%) and ENH partner (40%).
S6-A – CNOOC operator (70%) and ENH partner (30%).
S6-B – CNOOC operator (77.5%) and partner ENH (22.5%).
A6-G – CNOOC operator (79.5%) and ENH partner (20.5%).
A6-D – CNOOC operator (77.5%) and ENH partner (22.5%).
A6-E – CNOOC operator ( 80% )and partner ENH (20%).
Chairman of the Board of Directors of INP – National Petroleum Institute Nazário Bangalane addressed the representatives of the energy companies during the proposal opening ceremony.
Bangalane welcomed the interest shown by Eni and CNOOC in investing in those areas with proven petroleum potential.
In order to ensure a fully transparent process, the bids’ evaluation process will be carried out by a multisectoral team made up of senior officials from different State institutions, with proven technical capacity and experience in evaluating this type of proposals, assisted by an external consultant, the INP chairman pointed out.
Mozambique’s Sixth Licensing Round was launched in November 2021. The deadline for submission of proposals ended on Friday, November 11 ,and the announcement of the results is expected to take place by December 30 2022.
