A total of 143 nominations have been submitted to the ad hoc commission of the Assembly of the Republic for the selection of civil society members of the National Elections Commission (CNE).
The first indications take for granted the return of Salomão Moyane (journalist and political analyst), the entry of António Macilau Vilanculos (former President of Provincial Elections Commission in Manica), and Domingos Marques (based in the city of Beira).
If these names are confirmed, there will be four vacancies, to be contested by individuals such as Paulo Cuinica (current National Elections Commission spokesman) and Delfim de Deus (Mozambican Bar Association). The list presented by Forum Mulher includes Alice Banze (Gender Links), Rosita Alberto (activist), Jacinta Nhamitambo (RM Journalist) and Cândida Quintano, among others.
The Christian Council of Mozambique (CCM) submitted a list of 12 names including bishops and pastors from different churches.
