The Commander-in-Chief of the Police of the Republic (PRM), Bernardino Rafael, wants those freed after being acquitted of being part of the group carrying out attacks in Cabo Delgado to return to their homes.
Speaking on Sunday in the district of Chiúre, Bernardino said that none of the 229 who were acquitted for lack of evidence in April had returned to their areas of origin.
“We want to ask, via the population of Chiúre, that these citizens introduce themselves to neighbourhood structures and work with them productively, so that neighbourhood structures know where they are and where they are residing and demonstrate their innocence – that they are not aligned with the insurgents. We are not worried about their release, because all those who enter jail have the right to freedom,” Commander General Rafael said.
