A man named J D Chaúque was detained by police on Tuesday authorities as the result of a complaint filed by the National Social Security Institute’s (INSS) Maputo branch, which caught him using a counterfeit clearance certificate on behalf of the company Business Creative Solutions, Lda.
According to an INSS press release cited by ‘O Pais’, the counterfeit document was spotted when Chaúque attempted to deal with matters related to the company at an INSS service counter.
The clearance certificate in question was drawn up in June of this year. The company currently owes Social Security more than 150,000 thousand meticais for the period from September 2015 to September 2018.
The procedure for the detention of Mr Chaúque is already under way, along with enquiries into how he obtained the certificate.
The false clearance certificate found in Chaúque’s possession was issued one month before the release of the automated clearance certificate. In the new computerised system, the taxpayer simply prints this documentation from the SISSMO computer system, provided his or her tax situation is first regularised with Social Security.
