Heavy rain in Maputo city and province yesterday afternoon and evening left many homes and buildings completely flooded.
Matola Municipal Auditorium, better known as ‘Cinema 700’, was deep in rainwater, and its walls may be ruined, Folha de Maputo reports. The entire Municipal Auditorium garden was underwater, with urgent intervention required to save the building and garden.
The rain also left roads flooded, preventing passenger transport from operating between outlying districts and Maputo and leaving crowds stranded at bus stops.
