Mozambique Cement (Cimentos de Moçambique) is celebrating 95 years in existence at a time when its operating costs are being severely affected by the global financial crisis.
At a press conference launching the company’s 95th anniversary celebrations in Maputo on Tuesday, Director General Edney Vieira said that the start of hydrocarbon exploration projects in the country could bring improvements for the cement industry in Mozambique.
According to Vieira, the issue of maritime transportation of the raw material used in the production of cement was of most concern to the company.
Mozambique Cement currently has five million tonnes of installed capacity throughout the country.
