The Christian Council of Mozambique (CCM) in Sofala says it is available to play a mediating role to end the differences between the current leadership of Renamo and the self-proclaimed Military Junta.
Presenting the offer, CCM provincial coordinator Eduardo Tivane said that the crisis in the political formation of the opposition party could only be overcome through dialogue.
It was vital that the leaders of Renamo and the Military Junta sit down together to put an end to the armed attacks, he said, commenting that the violence, characterised by ambushes on vehicles, was slowing the country’s development down.
“The Junta leader himself mentioned churches, businesspeople and other stakeholders; it was a sign that he would like to have some intervention from these people,” Tivane noted.
