Agriculture in the spotlight as Italy's Ambassador to Mozambique visits Manica province

Under an agreement signed in Beijing this Tuesday (03-09), Mozambique will export three more agricultural products to the Chinese market, namely macadamia nuts, pigeon peas and cashew nuts.
According to the Domingo newspaper, the agreement was signed as part of the visit that the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is making to the People’s Republic of China.
The agreement, valid for three years and automatically renewed, is part of an agreement providing for the export, free of taxes (zero-tariff treatment] , of 400 national products to this Asian country.
On the Mozambican side, the agreement was signed by Ambassador Maria Gustava, and on the Chinese side by the ambassador of this country in Mozambique, Wang Hejun.
The Mozambican head of state is attending the 9th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing, at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
FOAC is taking place under the theme “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.”
At the summit, the heads of state will review the progress made in implementing the 2022-2024 Action Plan of the 8th FOCAC Ministerial Conference held in Dakar, Senegal, and approve the Declaration and Action Plan 2025-2027, which will guide China-Africa cooperation over the next three years.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity to strengthen bilateral friendly and cooperative relations between African countries and China, as well as to consolidate and deepen practical economic cooperation within the framework of FOCAC.
