Mozambican corridors see number of trucks fall
China is available to help Mozambique to increase its production capacity, the Chinese ambassador, Su Jian said at the Anhui-Mozambique seminar to Promote Cooperation for Production Capacity held in Maputo.
The seminar is attended by a group of 89 businesspeople from the Chinese province of Anhui as part of a delegation led by the vice-president of the People’s Provincial Assembly of Anhui, which visited Mozambique seeking business opportunities.
Speaking at the seminar, the ambassador said that China wanted to increase cooperation with Mozambique, particularly to build and improve infrastructure as well as in technology transfer and training Mozambican operatives and workers.
The Minister for Industry and Trade, Ernesto Max Tonela, who also spoke at the event, noted that Mozambique and China have had a long and solid relationship of friendship and “this forum reflects the will of both the countries to expand relations into private investment.”
“We want cooperation with China to help us achieve the government’s objectives for combatting poverty, promoting employment and industrial development,” Tonela said.
Companies from China have invested US$5.46 billion in Mozambique in the last few years.
