Police have arrested the alleged burglar accused of stealing 100,000 meticais from the Chimoio administrator’s residence. The individual has confessed to the crime but says he only stole 17,000 meticais and two mobile phones.
The accused entered the official residence of the administrator of the city of Chimoio on the 6th of August and stole money and mobile phones, but he claims to have been armed with only a replica firearm.
“I forced the window and entered the house, threatening the people inside with a fake gun. I said I had been sent to kill them, and if they did not want to be killed they should give me all the money they had,” the perpetrator detailed. There were no police officers guarding the place when he arrived, he added.
Police say the defendant is a repeat offender who had been previously granted bail.
