Mozambique: Road accident kills 9 on the N4, Maputo province

Six people were drowned and others were still missing when a ‘chapa’ taxi fell in the Mubera river at the administrative post of Chaimite in the Chibuto district at the weekend.
The Nissan van, registration number HR 879 GP, sank in the river with all passengers on board, Notícias reported yesterday.
It is thought that the driver was proceeding at excessive speed and under the influence of alcohol, leading to him being held in police custody.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Republic of Mozambique police in Gaza, four people with minor injuries were taken to Chibuto Rural Hospital.
Police specialists deployed to the scene recovered the bodies of six men.
