Ants is a lifestyle concept space located in the trendy suburb of Parkhurst, Johannesburg. It is connection point for culture, design, fashion, music and art, through retail, exhibition space and specialized events.
On the 15th of September, Celso Chan, a Mozambican artist will showcase his work in the The Artist’s Room at Ants.
Celso Chan is a Mozambican artist, working mostly with watercolour and sketch design using fine point pen ink. His work involves sketching freeform without removing the pen from the paper to ensure a continuity of design and inspiration. He sketches several pieces at once, and paints only after. Much of his inspiration comes from visual stimuli, including but not limited to the people and places in Maputo, New York, and London. His art reflects themes of current affairs, inequality, and social change.
Celso holds a Bachelor’s degree from St. John’sUniversity in Finance, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the University of Maryland. He works and lives between Cape Town, South Africa and Maputo, Mozambique.”
The opening is at 8 p.m. at Ants: 57, 6th Street Parkhurst, Johannesburg and will stay until October 8.
