The Mozambique-USA Chamber of Commerce (CCMUSA) held another edition of its usual business networking event, the Happy Hour – Business Network, on April 30 at the Polana Hotel. This strategic meeting brought together more than 100 companies from various sectors, government representatives, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Mozambique and other parties interested in promoting commercial relations in the country.
With the aim of creating an informal but productive environment for exchanging experiences, identifying synergies and exploring new business opportunities, the event was consolidated as a platform for direct interaction between the public and private sectors, something that is essential in an economic context that demands unity, resilience and innovation.
During the event, Onório Manuel, President of CCMUSA, stressed the importance of this initiative as part of the Chamber’s ongoing strategy to foster proximity between its members and the different economic players in Mozambique. “Happy Hour is more than a social gathering, it’s an effective tool for building trust, sharing ideas and creating sustainable business alliances,” he said.
The President also added that this edition of Happy Hour had a particularly special character, as it was designed to offer support and visibility to companies facing operational challenges due to the post-election demonstrations. “It’s our duty as a Chamber to create bridges and facilitate the recovery of companies, promoting a support network that overcomes economic adversity,” he concluded.
For his part, the Secretary of State for Trade, António do Rosário Grispos, praised CCMUSA’s initiative, highlighting the dynamism shown by the current leadership, and thanked them for the opportunity to interact directly with the national and international business community. He stressed that events of this nature allow the government to present its action plan for the business sector, gather valuable insights and strengthen ties with the private sector, one of the fundamental pillars for the country’s inclusive and sustainable economic growth, pointing out that the new government led by President Daniel Chapo has been introducing reforms, for example the decision to “Operate Commerce Without Restriction”.
As a form of institutional recognition and appreciation, CCMUSA also took the opportunity to present certificates of merit to former presidents and members of the Chamber who, over the years, have actively contributed to the growth and stability of the organization, with Brithol Michcoma, Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique, Ernst & Young, Kudumba Investments, MODET, Moza Banco, Técnica Engenheiros e Consultores. The tribute symbolizes CCMUSA’s appreciation for the commitment, dedication and legacy left by these figures in promoting a more dynamic and cooperative business environment.
