The album ‘Ximbombo’ by Mozambican musician and choreographer Casimiro Nhussi has been nominated for the Western Canadian Music Awards international music competition in Canada.
The competition is one of the biggest in international music in Canada, and chooses ‘best’ albums after the end of the year.
In a telephone interview with Radio Moçambique, Nhussi said that this was not the first time that his songs had competed in the WCMA World Artist category. His first album won the award and the second was also nominated, although it did not win.
Nhussi said that, for him and for Mozambique, the nomination represented recognition of the hard work he had been doing, since in Canada, in his words, “the name of Casimiro Nyusi is associated with his country”.
The album was recently released in Canada and has twelve tracks, of which Ximbombo gives the album its name.
Casimiro Nhussi is nominated in the World Artist of the Year category
