Hosted by High Commissioner of Canada to Mozambique, HE Sara Nicholls, Ambassador O’Neill will engage with civil society groups, government officials, and UN agencies to discuss the opportunities and challenges within the WPS space.
The objective of the visit is to underscore the significance of ensuring the meaningful participation of women in conflict resolution – an essential step towards sustainable peace and a core foreign policy priority for Canada.
In Maputo and Pemba, Ambassador O’Neill will meet with senior government officials to emphasize Canada’s collaborative efforts with global and local partners in bringing sustainable resolutions to conflicts, both nationally and through multilateral initiatives, notably at the United Nations.
This mission comes on the heels of the ratification of Canada’s Cabinet of the 3rd National Action Plan (2023-2029) on WPS last December. It reflects the evolution of the WPS Agenda and commits to advancing it at home and abroad with humility and determination.
