Mozambique: Five-fold increase in natural gas production expected by 2029
As a result of infrastructure investments, the Cahora Bassa hydroelectric dam (HCB) produced 4,364 gigawatts per hour (GWh) in the first quarter of this year, exceeding targets by 7.51 percent, the company said yesterday.
“HCB production rates for January, February and March were above 1,400 GWh, meaning that operating levels were above 100 percent of the plan,” said a company statement.
According to the note, these production levels resulting from upgrading of energy production and transmission chain infrastructure since 2009.
Cahora Bassa projects production of 4126.12 GWh for the current quarter, the press release reveals.
“First quarter results are encouraging and support the achievement of corporate goals and targets for this year, in turn reinforcing the commitment of HCB to national development,” the statement reads.
