With the restoration of security in the region, five schools in Cabo Delgado’s Quissanga district which had been closed due to terrorism will reopen today.
According to the provincial director of Education in Cabo Delgado, Ivaldo Quincardete, schools must reopen to meet the needs of residents who have already returned to some villages in this coastal district.
“This process in the education sector is already happening. For example, in Palma district, 12 schools are already operating. Seventy-six teachers are already there, and we have more teachers who want to return. This is a town where reopening is justified: the population is returning, and consequently there are students there. So we have to open the schools,” he explained.
