Police in Cabo Delgado have foiled an attempt to traffic fifteen women allegedly to Saudi Arabia. The women had been recruited in the Nacala-Porto district of Nampula. They were staying in Pemba, in the Natite neighbourhood, where residents notified police.
The alleged victims told Radio Moçambique that they were in search of new opportunities, and those allegedly responsible for the crime have denied that they were involved in trafficking.
Cabo Delgado police spokeswoman Malva Brito insisted that this was a case of human trafficking, allegedly perpetrated by two Mozambicans and two Tanzanians.
