Minister of National Defence Jaime Neto says terrorists in Cabo Delgado are being cornered.
The minister also says that Palma and other districts in Cabo Delgado province are beginning to experience some degree of stability.
The defence minister has spoken of intense fighting in Cabo Delgado and of the terrorists becoming hemmed in.
According to the minister, the troops are gaining ground and the enemy is retreating.
Foreign troops from at least seven different countries are expected to arrive in Mozambique in the coming weeks, and the minister welcomed the response of SADC governments in combating terrorism.
The defence minister was speaking at the accreditation of new military attaches from the Republic of Zambia, Malawi, Egypt, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.
