Mozambique’s Minister of Combatants, Carlos Silia, has encouraged veterans of the national liberation struggle to continue supporting young members of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) in the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado province.
Carlos Silia was speaking this Friday during a visit to the Marocani and Nankumi displaced persons accommodation centres in Ancuabe district.
The Combatants Minister said it was also the task of the country’s liberators to promote vigilance in communities and the IDP reception centres, in order to prevent their infiltration by malefactors.
“Terrorists are to be expelled, destroyed. We want to greet the veterans of the national liberation struggle who, together with the FDS, are inflicting defeats on the terrorists. The combatants of yesteryear fought for the independence of our country; today we are also called to defeat the terrorists. This country has become independent because the combatants have sacrificed their lives, and you cannot let the terrorists of the day come to destroy this country and steal our wealth,” he said.
Carlos Silia affirmed that to have a country was priceless, calling on all veterans of the national liberation struggle to pass on their love of country to the young.
