Mozambique: Naparamas murder policemen in Nivenevene, Chiúre district - AIM report
There already seems to be a green light for the replenishment by road of food stocks in the main town of the district of Palma.
A few hours after Carta de Moçambiqe published an article on the sad experience in that part of Cabo Delgado province, we received information reporting that, since last Tuesday, a military escort, organised by the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), in partnership with the local militia, has ensured the transport of food and hygiene products from the headquarters town of Nangade district to the headquarters town of Palma.
According to Carta sources, at least 10 vehicles were, between Tuesday and Wednesday, safely escorted through Pundanhar administrative post in Palma district, where insurgents have recently carried out raids in an attempt to isolate Palma from the rest of the province.
The “good news” will minimise the impact of the terrorist attacks of commerce, whereby entrepreneurs were forced to use the sea as the only logistical alternative to National Road 380 for the transport of food products.
It will also relieve families, who were forced to pay almost three times the usual prices. For example, a 25 kg of third-grade rice was being sold for 4,000.00 meticais, against the 1,100.00 to 1,400.00 meticais charged in other parts of the country.
