Cabo Delgado province has lost more than 100,000 hectares of forests in the last six years to uncontrolled bushfires, the main cause of devastation that could jeopardise the welfare of following generations.
The situation is serious, since the reforestation of devastated areas is not yet producing the desired results.
The province is however committed to continuing reforestation initiatives despite poor plant survival rates, and will reinforce enforcement measures.
Cabo Delgado has about 60 million hectares of forest.
