It was after 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, when insurgents raided Rueia village in the administrative post of Mucojo, Macomia district, Cabo Delgado. They started by firing into the air, which warned the population of their approach so that they fled.
One couple, who had gone into the woods, saw the insurgents arriving and counted no more than 10 men.
In the course of the raid, the insurgents shot dead an octopus fisherman named Mbaguia.
Several huts and five retail stalls were burned down.
Rueia village is about 2 km from Mucojo, the headquarters of the administrative post. There are two Defence and Security Forces positions near Mocujo.
Local sources reportedly say that over 20 young people from Rueia have joined the rebel group.
