Mozambique: Three bodies found in Chiúre-Velho
Two male residents of Machava village, 30 km from Nangade district headquarters village, were killed last Friday in an incident attributed to criminals who have been terrorising northern districts of Cabo Delgado province since October 2017.
‘Carta de Moçambique’ sources say that, about 3:00 p.m., the victims were hit by gunfire as they returned from spraying trees in their cashew orchards. One of the victims is thought to have been a local elementary school teacher.
According to data supplied to ‘Carta’, the incident took place in a stream-crossed area close to where the insurgents burned a tractor, also ferrying cashews, in November last year.
Another attack reported to ‘Carta’ and attributed to the same group occurred in the village of Nangade itself, specifically in the V Congress neighbourhood, resulting in the deaths of three people, their ages and gender as yet unknown.
The attack, the third in the district this month, happened around 6:00 p.m. the same day (Friday).
