The Governor of the Province of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, inaugurated a block of four classrooms, an administrative block and two toilets in the village of Senga, Palma Sede administrative post, in Palma district, on Tuesday, July 18.
To ensure hygiene in the school community, a source of potable water with handwashing facilities was also installed.
The infrastructure inaugurated by Governor Tauabo will benefit 523 students, and was built with financial support from TotalEnergies, within the scope of the multinational’s social responsibility programme.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Tauabo urged the school community and the general population to use it in a judicious and sustainable way, to guarantee long-term service.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General of TotalEnergies in Mozambique, Maxime Rabilloud, said that his company would continue to provide support to the population of Palma, and that local labour would be given priority in the execution of projects.
Prior to the building of the classrooms, Senga students had classes in tents and temporary learning spaces, with attendant constraints on the teaching and learning process.
